Radis Community Care have an opportunity for a Positive Behaviour Support (PSB) Practitioner to join our team.

About the role

As our PSB Practitioner you will be working with and supporting people whose behaviour is described as concerning or challenging.

You will


Develop and update PBS Plans and related documents in line with changes in need and presenting behaviour.
Support best practice around the use of physical interventions, and promote the reduction of restrictive practices.
Completing PBS related assessments and incorporating the results into accessible reports for managers and staff teams.
Effectively implement appropriate assessment and intervention methods
• Implement behavioural interventions. .
• Produce PBS reports in accordance with good practice guidance.
• Be involved, as appropriate, in the assessment of clients being referred
• Manage highly complex information and sensitive situations involving exposure to distressing, traumatic and emotional material, including exposure to challenging behaviours
• Communicate in a skilled and sensitive manner, information concerning the assessment, formulation and intervention plans
• To take part in regular professional supervision and appraisal and maintain an active engagement with current developments in the field of Positive Behaviour Support and related disciplines.
• Contribute to the maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes.

    Skills & Experience required for the role


  • NVQ3 in Health and Social Care (or equivalent)
  • Ideally NAPPI trained
    • Experience of working with adults and young people with a Learning Disability, Mental Health diagnosis and or Autism
    • Effective communication skills with both service users and staff
    • Ability to write high quality reports
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work closely with a range of staff in a multi-disciplinary team (MDT)
    • Ability to use monitoring and evaluation tools
    • Values driven, ambitious to improve the lives of people we support
    • Sound values base in respect of the rights of vulnerable people, particularly those who present with behavioural challenges
    • Effective time and organisational skills; able to plan, manage and prioritise own workload
    • Able to comply with organisational policy, information governance and record keeping
    • Effective computer literacy skills.
    • You will have a full driver’s licence, access to a car, and be willing to travel to any of our services, or specified catchment area.
    • You will be physically fit, as this can be a demanding job that includes using physical training and supporting people directly alongside staff teams.
    • Willingness to work outside of regular office hours (evenings and weekends) on occasions
